London based Hero Media are a successful boutique TV production management company, and specialists in creating small or low budget TV commercials. Recently they've made a series of memorable TV advertisements and sponsorship idents for the likes of Tasty Bingo, Posh Bingo, Wink Bingo, 888 Ladies, all being aired on ITV.
Although a highly experienced team, they needed an online presence to showcase their new work as the recently formed Hero Media. The brief was to produce a website that portrayed their creativity, professionalism, capabilities and experience.
The site needed to reflect the Hero brand - creative rather than corporate. Well designed - cool but not edgy. Simple, white background, clean lines, uncluttered, not too many moving parts, quick to load with a media rich blog. It also needed to help support all marketing efforts - internet searching, advertising, word of mouth, social media, etc.
With regard to Search Engine Optimisation - due to the way we optimised and manage the code and content - Hero's website is already:

For a site that's only been live since December 2009, that's pretty good internet visibility - it can only get better!

The Stroke Comedy Club is one of the best independent stand-up comedy clubs in the UK - both the fans and comedians agree and so do we as fans ourselves. Established in 2002 and always a sell-out - it’s at The George Hotel Lichfield the first Thursday of every month. Ken Jenkins the manager, brings up some of the top comedians from the London circuit to put on a full evening show of 4 acts including an MC. Ken also gives new-comers a chance with the short open mic slot in the middle.
The old website was in desperate need of an overhaul and so we set to it - introducing a blog system to manage the show details, an RSS feed to keep fans up-to-date, a bright new logo, web optimised photos and coding for fast load, search engine optimised, visitor analytics, a comments system and compatible with all popular browsers and mobile phones.

Tony is a novelist and found our website when he Googled "Web Designers in Birmingham".
He said of all the dozens of web design companies he reviewed he felt we suited him the most. We met up and worked out a strategy to promote his recently completed adult thriller/fantasy novel called 'Splinters', with global promotion of both the paperback and the eBook.
Consumer and Market Analysis was carried out to decide on the most likely target market segment and the most suitable and cost-effective approach methods. The design brief - a modern, clean, easy to use site, fresh, informative and enticing the visitor to buy, search engine optimised and easily edited/updated with a Content Management System (CMS).
Stage 1 - The web site went live mid Sept 2009, with reader comments, character descriptions, purchase buttons, blog, etc. Stage 2 - Global Marketing - update on progress to follow.

We were commissioned to produce an online brochure for this local client in 2008. To give it “the edge” we decided to film a video and use it as an auto-loading flash animation on the front page. This sold the specialist hire service very effectively as potential customers like to have a good look at a product - particularly when it’s not an everyday item. Filmed and edited in-house by Sean Bullivant with a Panasonic AG-DVX100b.
We’ve done this kind of thing for estate agents too, videoing inside and out can really help sell a house, office block or anything really; if you want something sold, a well made video can make a real difference. Prices for filming and editing start at £250 (travel time and costs extra).

UPDATE: In April 2009 we were asked to also create an A5 leaflet for Citroën DS Hire. The design was approved, four hundred were printed and delivered within 3 days of the leaflet being requested. They were then distributed at a wedding fair and put into various wedding dress/cake shops.

Alexander has worked with Abacus on and off since 2005 and has assisted them with a wide variety of projects. To start with a basic online-brochure website was written and produced in 2005 with 20+ pages.
Search Marketing, in particular Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) was not focused on too much with the Abacus site as there is a lot of competition in the Financial Service industry; effective SEO would therefore have been very time consuming and the cost hard to justify. In any case, this website is mainly for reassuring and informing existing clients and building relationships with professional connections. The Advisers are more than capable of using REFERRAL MARKETING to find new clients themselves instead of relying on internet enquiries. See below for more about Referral Marketing.
However despite that, due to us very carefullyresearching and writing useful, varied and search engine friendly content the Abacus Investment Management website achieves some very good search engine ranking for various relevant search key phrases - including 8 number one positions on Google and Yahoo, and 25 page one appearances. Case studies and testimonials had to be obtained and service lines and standards needed to be defined. A large amount of research and commercial copywriting was needed as the Directors had little time to undertake the task themselves. The original brief expanded over time to include developing external professional connections such as local Solicitors and Accountants to obtain reciprocated referrals from. Thus the projects included elements of proactive Business Development and Strategic Marketing as well as Research, Writing, Design and SEO.

As you can see we worked on a very wide variety of operational, creative and marketing aspects for Metalbone - the Rock Concert Management company. We were very pleased to have numerous airings of 5 of our videos of Metalbone concerts on the Sky Extreme Sports TV channel Ex-Tube programme in 2007 and 2008.
We worked on 3 main concerts with numerous UK Rock Bands including Inferno, Die So Fluid, Slipnot, DiaboliKIll, Multi Purpose Chemical and Evil Scarecrow.

Making promo music videos is not for the faint hearted. Most bands are short of cash but still expect a good quality video. While the higher echelons of the music industry still spend £25k plus most unsigned bands struggle to find a few hundred pounds for their promotional videos.
The cheapest way is to make a LIVE Music video - get one of your concerts filmed; but clearly the band needs to perform well on the night, the sound has to be excellent – no bum notes or missed lyrics, etc. The sound engineer needs to be geared up for direct recording from the desk. The lighting has to be brighter than you would normally have at a gig; and you need 3 camera angles at least to make an appealing finished live music video. Once it’s carefully edited, the footage should be expertly compressed for YouTube and other websites and HD DVDs mass produced for sending to TV Broadcasters and selling to fans.
Sean who headed up the team that made the music videos for Metalbone has also filmed, and thus helped to promote, numerous other musical acts including: Charlotte Hatherley, The Wombats and The Hussys, and corporate clients such as Staffordshire Youth Service, Lichfield District Council, Future Home Care Ltd and Theatre Productions Ltd.

Sun Eleven is a tanning salon in the heart of Lichfield, Staffordshire and is owned and managed by Sarah Banbury; who also runs the card shop below. You can find it located opposite Wilkinson’s at 11-13 Bore Street. They have both vertical and horizontal booths AND an advanced St Tropez Spray tanning room.
In the Winter period 2006/07 we designed and printed leaflets and posters to boost new business and remind regulars of the special offers and features.
The campaign distribution was via Christmas cards to existing customers, pickup from shop counters and posters in various social venues in the local area.
We redesigned the existing Mission Accomplished website in 2008; basically to improve the look, feel and usability for potential and existing clients. The requirement was for a smart, simple online brochure.

In Spring 2008 Alexander was asked to research and produce a Company Action Plan - his views on how Willow should operate over the next 5 years or so.
Although the exact contents are confidential - within the consultation document were subjects like how a successful firm in their particular niche of the financial services industry could improve and should operate, the key factors that will effect sustainable growth, the opportunities and threats, where to focus both their attention and resources, The Technology Plan, The Social Plan, The Customer Service Plan, The Training Plan, etc.
The 20 page consultation document was highly commended by the senior management - Calum Cameron - Chief Executive/Partner and Philip Martin - Sales/HR Director/Partner. Many of the suggestions have or will be implemented - leading to increases in turnover, profitability and efficiency.

As videographers they worked with clients in performing arts, music and local government.
