KP Events sports event management
KP Events is a leading organiser of running events in the Midlands: 2Ks, 10Ks, half-marathons and two specials - The Lichfield Cathedral Dash and the Xtreme Challenge. They approached Roxbourne needing a new website to greater represent their position in sports event management and to handle the event listings. A new website that truly reflected the scale of their operation and assisted in gaining trust and loyalty.
After a briefing meeting we got stuck straight in: upgrading their hosting to include a MySQL database, installing the WordPress content management system, customising the backend and frontend functionality, creating a new design and supporting graphics. We transferred most of the existing text and reworked the photos.
We set up a contact form so that enquiries can be dealt with more efficiently. We put countdown timers on all the upcoming events - counting in seconds too - athletes care about seconds.
It has an auto-updating sitemap and longtail URLs to assist with SEO. They had some audio files of radio coverage of the 2010 Lichfield Dash, so we created an audio page with an attractive and uncluttered audio player interface.
We designed and branded a more attractive downloadable application form and modernised a lot of logos and graphics on the site, including a route map for the Lichfield half-marathon. Sponsors are better represented - thus vastly helping KP Events to continue to secure suitable sponsorship deals.
The new site not only looks a lot better, it is easier to find what you are looking for, has a better search facility and the event application page is more informative.
We provide an ongoing website management service too; updating with news about up-coming events and results of those past. The 2011 Lichfield Half-Marathon was an amazing success - and produced lots of fresh photos, videos and praise from many runners - 96% said they would do it again. The website had over 5,200 visitors in the 10 days around the Marathon (3,250 were unique).
